New Years Eve 2013
I hope that 2014 brings some changes to the Simprini family. Ron and I are ending the year watching a Twilight Zone Marathon. We plan to begin the year on a new eating plan and I am trying my best to give up sugar for 2014. Right now I am eating a slice of cheesecake. My last sweet for 365 days. I took pictures of my profile and front and rear views. Tomorrow I will weigh myself and take measurements. It is time for a change. I am getting an epidural next Tuesday. I really hope it will help my back pain and the way my foot goes numb. Then if I give up sugar and get relief from my back pain I think 2014 will bring better running and tennis and fun.

Getting Ready
All my life I have been a lover of sweet things. I even had an ice cream parlor called Sweet Things. But since hitting my 65th birthday 2 weeks ago, I have decided to really try to make some major nutritional changes in my life. So after I finish eating and or tossing all of the cookies, cheesecake, and candy I am going to start 2014 with a strong resolve to see what life without sugar holds in store for me. On January 1st I am going to chronicle this journey with photos, measurements, weight and exercise logs. In addition I will make note of physical and emotional changes that occur.
I am following The Virgin Diet because it makes the most sense. Giving up wine as well for at least a month and then limiting wine to social occasions not drinking it as an everyday pleasure.
I have always been a runner but recent medical issues related to sports overuse injuries have extremely curtailed my mileage. That has led to an unwelcomed weight gain and rolls of fat or a muffin top. So all will be revealed on Wednesday January 1st and when my birthday on December 15th 2014 comes around a newer stronger and healthier person will be posing for that photo.
I love this shot that Ron took in August 2013 in Spring Lake. It is how I feel when I am with him and enjoying summer my favorite season. Next time I will be standing and smiling and feeling healthier.
